Jordan Peele To Write And Direct 2 New Movies For Universal

The Scares Must Go On

It seems that Jordan Peele, the star director behind Get Out and Us, is collaborating with Universal on two upcoming films.

Today, we learned that Universal has signed a five-year exclusive deal with Peele. With this new deal comes word from Deadline that Universal will develop Peele’s next two films – which he will write, direct, and produce.

Universal Filmed Entertainment Group chairman Donna Langley had this to say: “Jordan has established himself as a premier voice and original storyteller with global appeal. He is leading a new generation of filmmakers that have found a way to tap into the cultural zeitgeist with groundbreaking content that resonates with audiences of all backgrounds. We also share an important goal with Monkeypaw when it comes to increasing representation on-screen in the characters that are portrayed, the stories that are told, and the people who tell them.”

“It would not have been possible to make Get Out and Us without the endless trust and support we received from Donna Langley and the team at Universal,” Peele added. “Their willingness to take risks and their commitment to original content makes them the perfect collaborative partner for Monkeypaw. I couldn’t be more excited for what lies ahead.”

Peel’s next project is his “spiritual sequel” to Bernard Rose’s 1992 adaptation of Clive Barker’s Candyman starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Aquaman) and Teyonah Parris (If Beale Street Could Talk). Peele is producing the flick while Little Woods writer-director Nia DaCosta will be taking the helm. Filming recently wrapped on the film, which Universal Pictures will be bringing to a theater near you on June 12th, 2020.

Jordan Peele has made a strong name for himself over the past few years, and he shows no signs of slowing down. We at CGMagazine look forward to seeing what horrors he’ll unleash next, and we’ll be around to tell you all about them.
