Mindhunter Season 2 Arrives On Netflix This August 1

David Fincher appeared on the KCRW podcast, The Treatment, where he announced that Mindhunter season 2 will premiere on August 16th.

Being the executive producer and occasional director of the show, we can probably trust Fincher’s info nugget to be accurate. This confirms what executive producer Charlize Theron claimed in May about the show returning in August. Deadline has stated that Netflix has confirmed the date, but we’ll probably have to wait until next week’s San Diego Comic-Con for a reveal trailer.

The show is a fictional adaptation of a non-fictional book, featuring an FBI agent who attempts to empathize with incarcerated killers to better catch others. The new season will explore the “Atlanta child murders,” a series of killings between 1979-1981. At least 28 African American children, teenagers, and adults were killed during that short period of time. Not much else is known about season 2, but there are rumblings that Damon Herriman is playing Charles Manson. Coincidentally, Herriman also plays Manson in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

If all is as said, Mindhunter season 2 will come to Netflix on August 16th. Expect to hear more details very soon.
