Netflix's Dark Crystal Prequel Trailer Released

After a month full of teases, Netflix has finally released the trailer for their upcoming Dark Crystal prequel series.

Titled Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, the series takes place before the cult Jim Henson film and will feature ten episodes. The trailer for the series includes classic pupateering, CG elements, as well as a whole lot of fantastical action. The series follows the adventures of three young Gelflings named Rian, Deet and Brea on their journey to find the secrets to the evil Skeksis’ rise to power.

The series is directed by Louis Leterrier who is best known for The Incredible Hulk, Clash of the Titans and Now You See Me. Joining Leterrier on the project are a who’s who of hollywood stars including: Taron Egerton, Anya Taylor-Joy, Nathalie Emmanuel, Mark Hamill, Andy Samberg, Caitriona Balfe, Helena Bonham-Carter, Harris Dickinson, Eddie Izzard, Theo James, Toby Jones, Shazad Latif, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Mark Strong, Alicia Vikander, Harvey Fierstein, Ralph Ineson, Keegan-Michael Key, Olafur Darri Olafsson, Simon Pegg, and Donna Kimball.

Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance is set to release on Netflix on August 31, 2019. The original Dark Crystal film was released in December of 1982 and tells the story of a young Gelfling on a quest to bring peace to a world torn apart by evil. It made over $41 milllion on a $15 million budget, but has since risen to even higher popularity due to its cult classic status.
