Scarlett Johansson is now officially the highest paid actress in Hollywood for 2018.
Scarlett Johansson has the lead role in terms of 2018’s payroll — raking in an impressive $40.5 million in pretax earnings between the dates of June 1, 2017, to June 1, 2018.
Johansson’s impressive earnings have just eclipsed Angelina Jolie’s $28.million from her role in Maleficent 2 and Jennifer Aniston’s $19.5million. Of course, the root of her success stems in part to her portrayal of the character Black Widow, a prominent character in the Avengers series of Marvel Movies.
Other notable starlets that have raked in the big bucks this year include big names such as Reese Witherspoon from her role in Big Little Lies and Jennifer Lawrence in recent films such as Mother! and Red Sparrow, not to mention her own superhero movie role within X-Men.
With the latest Avenger’s movie breaking records globally, including being the highest grossing movie of all time in Canada, it only makes sense to see arguably the biggest female lead of those movies, take the number one spot.
CGmagazine recently got the opportunity to sit down and discuss the success of the movie with Greg Mason, Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Canada’s VP of Marketing, in which at one point, Mason stated, ” This definitely exceeded expectations, we certainly had high hopes for the film, but to have the number one opening of all time, this was beyond our expectations, so we’re absolutely thrilled with the numbers.”
With a standalone Black Widow movie finally moving forward and getting a director in July, the future does certainly look bright for Scarlet Johansson.
