The popular Japanese manga, The Seven Deadly Sins, will be receiving a video game adaptation for PlayStation 4.The Japanese publication, Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine, announced plans to reveal a new video game inspired by The Seven Deadly Sin’s manga this Wednesday. Screenshots along with the game’s cover art will be revealed in the upcoming magazine issue but the game’s name has already been released to the public, titled The Seven Deadly Sins: The Britannian Traveler. Being developed by Bandai Namco, the company stated that the game is a “deadly sins action” game.Written and illustrated by Nakaba Suzuki, The Seven Deadly Sins manga launched in 2012. The series follows a princess named Elizabeth as she sets out on a journey to find members of a group called The Seven Deadly Sins in order to enlist their help against the Holy Knights who’ve taken over her kingdom. In 2014, Netflix licensed the anime adaptation for The Seven Deadly Sins. Netflix streamed 24 episodes with an additional four a year later.The Seven Deadly Sins has become a major success since its release in Japan. The collected volumes of the manga had reached five million copies in August 2014, doubling by January 2015. Spinoffs and numerous other forms of media such as art books have been produced in response to its success. In North America, the second and fourth volumes of The Seven Deadly Sins charted at number seven and nine on the New York Times Manga Best Seller List.Bandai Namco previously developed a Japanese exclusive Nintendo 3DS titled based on the series in 2015, titled The Seven Deadly Sins: Unjust Sin. The game was a single player, side scrolling action game with a number of playable characters from the series. A mobile game based on the series also released in Japan, allowing players to collect and battle with their favourite characters.
